NSA's knitted hoods and dickies are ideal for use in moderately high-heat environments. They provide more flexibility and visibility than aluminized hoods. Our knit hoods are available in the following materials:

 

  • Kevlar®: 6 oz. KEVLAR® offers excellent heat and flame resistance, as well as high durability. It provides the best molten splash protection of the listed knitted materials.
  • Nomex®: 6 oz. NOMEX® provides good heat and flame resistance, comfort and excellent absorbency.  NOMEX® is the most popular of the knitted materials.
  • PBI® / Rayon: This 6 oz. material is made of 80% flame-retardant rayon and 20% PBI®.  It offers comfort, absorbency and superior heat resistance.
  • Carbon X®: This 6 oz. material provides excellent heat and flame resistance. Offers breathability with a soft comfortable finish.
  • Nomex® / Rayon: This 6 oz. material of NOMEX® fiber and flame-retardant rayon offer the best value of the knitted materials.
  H12NK: This short-style, economy hood is made from a single layer of NOMEX®. Also available in PBI/Rayon (H12PK) and KEVLAR® (H12KK).
  H31PK: Shown left is NSAs knitted hood in PBI/Rayon which features double-layer protection on top and a single-layered knit bib for added protection.  Our most popular knitted hood (H31NK) features double-knit white NOMEX® on top and a single-layered knit NOMEX® bib for added protection. Also available is the KEVLAR® version (H31KK).
  H41NK: This specialty hood features a triple-knit white NOMEX® face and a single-knit NOMEX® bib. Designed with holes for eye exposure only, this hood is ideal for extreme heat applications.
H18CX: The double layer black Carbon X® hood provides comfortable and durable protection.
  H01KK016: Featuring a turtleneck-style collar, this KEVLAR® dickey with 12-inch bib offers neck and upper torso protection.
